Mariame Kaba, Bianca Diaz, and Haymarket Books are committed to donating copies of Mariame and Bianca’s new children’s book See You Soon to organizations supporting families who are affected by incarceration.

We have been coordinating with groups who work directly with children who have incarcerated loved ones to distribute free copies to their families. 

We have close to 2,000 requests for books already from amazing organizations that support incarcerated families. 

Some ways in which donated copies will be used to support incarcerated families are:

●    Sharing copies with incarcerated mothers so they can read the book to their children when they visit or record a read-aloud they can send home.

●    Sending copies to young people with a note indicating it is a gift from their family member who is incarcerated.

●    Donating copies to distribute at several Mother’s Day family events at correctional facilities.

Haymarket Books is raising funds to cover some of the costs of the books and shipping, and will continue to fulfill these donations in an ongoing way. We welcome donations in any amount to be able to fulfill these requests.
